Inspiration: For Figure Painting.Working in Exaggerated color. I really enjoyed painting this piece. Dark people are hard to paint thought because the tones in their skin are so similar. I was a nice challenge.

Inspiration: For Heads and Hands. Portrait with hands. There are so many things wrong with this portrait most of which stem from my poor choice in reference photo. Not one of my best works.
Nice job on the black lady - but I have to disagree with you about the difficulty in painting dark skin. There are so many colors in a black person's skin, it is almost translucent. Next time don't use any brown at all - try using deeper values of the same colors you would use on a white person. After all white people aren't really white and brown people aren't really brown.
